Friday loves

  • this tattoo that I stumbled upon via Pinterest. I've been thinking of getting something that represents the American Indian part of me, and I love this dreamcatcher. it's simple but beautiful.
if you know the original source of this image, let me know so I can credit it properly!

  • the ever so addicting Words With Friends game that I downloaded on my phone. I'm a word game fiend and so naturally, I'm hooked on it. I've been playing with friends as well as random opponents. if you want to play, shoot me an email!
  • Michael Scott's last episode of The Office. I have no words, other than I AM SO SAD.

image

  • this pasta sauce recipe that we cooked last night. we used a lot more cheese than the recipe call for, and it turned out pretty well. if we make it again (which I'm sure we will, cause I get sick of eating red sauce), I'll probably only use half of the pasta. either way, it was delicious! I will have pictures soon!
  • Cole's roundup of rain boots. I've been wanting a pair of rain boots for what seems like forever, and Target chevron pretties are a callin' my name!
  • the whole navy blue/nautical thing that West Elm's got goin' on right now. more specifically, these napkins and these pillows, and this shower curtain. I would like them all in my home now, please and thank you.

  • Clara's birth story. holy hell, there were a lot a terrified moments leading up to this girl's arrival, and you would have never known it if not for Sherry's heart wrenching post this week.
  • Erika's kitchen makeover - specifically, the after pictures. I especially love the old gym locker in the pantry and the open shelves! oh, and the green cabinets don't hurt either.

Happy Friday! <3

weekend recap (shopping goods included)

the hubs and I had to drop the Tundra off for
regular maintenance on Saturday... so instead
of waiting in the service center for hours
(yes, hours... it took them FIVE hours to perform
the scheduled maintenance,
even though we had an appointment...
don't even get me started on how pissed I am with them),
we decided to do a little shopping.

to be honest, I wasn't impressed with the majority of the items in the store.
luckily, on my way out of the store, I realized I had
missed an entire rack right in the front,
which held all of the things I ended up purchasing.

here's what I got:

Daytrip Babydoll Dress
I thought this was a top until I tried it on and realized how long it was. it could definitely be worn as a dress (but I'd only feel comfortable doing so with leggings because of my height), so I plan on wearing it as a top. it's really flattering and the chiffon overlay makes it more interesting than just a plain grey top.

Daytrip Drop Waist Dress
I was nervous about this one, because it's a basic rayon and spandex blend, which means that it hugs just a little bit, but it's still got that stretch. surprisingly, probably because of the drop waist, it fit well and was actually pretty flattering to my body type. I love the vibrant color too - it can be dressed up nicely with the right jewelry and shoes!
and bonus... it has pockets. I love pockets on dresses.

_______________________________

Rusty Peyote Strappy Dress
perfect summer dress. it has a bit of black embroidery at the top, which gives it just a little more detail than the basic black dress. the elastic waist allows for a little give and slack so that it doesn't have to be worn skin tight, which I love. and again, it has pockets, which made it an instant win.

the last top I got was impossible to find on the Buckle website, but it looks exactly like this:
super small photo from this ebay listing
yep, it's mustard. surprised?

I also made a stop at Victoria's Secret, because I desperately needed new bras that actually fit me properly. I bought one of the Bio Fit bras in a black/nude lace, which is amazingly comfortable. I also purchased two cotton push up bras (which were on sale - 2 for $45) - one is navy blue with white polka dots, and the other is a basic heather grey. VS was having a major pantie sale as well, so I picked up 7 pairs of cotton underwear for $25.

other than our impromptu shopping trip, we had a pretty low key weekend in the FoFandee household. I did literally a million loads of laundry, went grocery shopping, did a little cleaning and we caught up on some DVR'd shows. did anyone else catch the Shameless finale last night? I'm so hooked on that show - cannot WAIT for next season! I also did a bit of cuddling with the Bear cub yesterday between loads of laundry.

oh, and I started reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak last week - I can't really get into it. I'm not sure if it's the format of the writing or if I'm just burned out on fast reads. has anyone read this book? most reviews on GoodReads are raves, but I'm just not feeling it. I'm going to give it another good effort before I decide to put it down... after all, I'm only about 50 pages in, so it could definitely just be a slow start.

Happy Monday, ya'll!

Day 03/30

Day 03/30 - your favorite television program

okay, I am being dead serious when I say that I absolutely cannot choose a favorite TV show. if you know me, you know that I DVR everything under the sun. I don't even know when shows air on TV... I just know that they show on my DVR list and I can watch them whenever I feel like it. I've never been the kind to know when spring/summer/fall shows come on or what airs during what season, so I just try to pay attention to commercials and tape shows accordingly.

so what I'm trying to say is... I'm going to have to make a list for this prompt, because I honestly don't have a favorite TV show. and it would be entirely too difficult to go into detail about why I like each and every show. so HA. oh, and also, these are not in any particular order... just listing them as I think of them...

- True Blood
- Big Brother
- Army Wives
- How I Met Your Mother
- The Office
- Bad Girls Club
- Top Chef
- Parenthood
- Hell's Kitchen
- Sons of Anarchy
- The Amazing Race
- Modern Family
- The Mentalist
- Family Guy
- Persons Unknown
- The Next Food Network Star
- Dexter
- King of Queens
- Southland
- Justified
- Louie
- House
- Eastbound and Down
- Design Star
- Project Runway
- Criminal Minds
- Rules of Engagement
- Color Splash
- Parks & Recreation
- Untold Stories of the ER
- Intervention
- Hoarders
- Dark Blue
- Master Chef

whew. I think that's it. it's probably not, honestly. I have a feeling there's a lot I'm not remembering. I watch a LOT of television shows, and seeing this list kind of makes me feel like a giant loser. but I really can't help it... I get sucked in and addicted!

to see the entire 30 Day Challenge, go here!

Happy Wednesday!

Happy Hump Day, ladies! ;)

random thoughts.

I've recently realized that I may have a slight case of OCD. I was resetting my FM stations in my car last night, after having to buy a new battery, and I set them all in numerical order. also, at work, I use colored highlighters, which ALWAYS have to be in order of the rainbow. I count my steps when I walk, and I count when I brush my teeth. I can't use a pen that doesn't write well, and if I mess up while writing something, I have to start over.

The new season of Project Runway starts tonight and I am super duper excited. I've mentioned before how much I love the show, and the fabulous Tim Gunn. even better though... the new season of Jersey Shore begins tonight as well! I can't wait to watch the disaster that is the crazy group of guidos and guidettes. I hope Snookie gets punched in the face again twice... again. at least, I hope someone pulls her Bump-It out this time.

Sean & I are leaving for our week long beach vacation in 9 days, and while I'm definitely looking forward to the relaxation, I reaaaaally don't want to leave my cats. when we came back from our honeymoon, Bear was a big weirdo. he wouldn't come near us for a while... it's like he didn't even know who we were. I wish I could just pack them all up and bring them with us.

in fact, I'm almost positive that Bear would love the beach. he LOVES water, which is why he isn't allowed in the bathroom... otherwise, he'd sneak up on me in the shower and fight me for the faucet when I brush my teeth. strange little kitty.

I'm pretty sure I have shin splints. they started bothering me on Sunday, but I just assumed my legs were sore from walking/going up stairs/being on my feet ALL day long in flip flops on Saturday. when I was working out with my trainer on Monday evening, they began to get really really sore. it was hard for me to walk, let alone do the step exercises my trainer was expecting me to do. I've been stretching them and putting ice on them for 20 minutes everyday, but they still hurt. anyone have any hints on how to make it stop? and don't worry, I wear excellent shoes when I work out, so I don't think that's a contributing factor.

Sean sent me this recipe today, and it looks so fucking delicious. I think we try it out tomorrow night. I'll be sure to take pictures and post it to share with everyone!

Baby fever is getting worse by the day. at first we talked about on going to Europe next summer, and then, after doing some research, we decided it was just too expensive. and so we've recently started planning on taking a cruise in January, as our last just-the-two-of-us trip. well now Sean is back on the Europe kick... the one that HE said was too expensive months ago after I got my hopes up about going. we know we can save for it, and we know people who live over the pond that could help us find cheap places to crash... but... that also means I have to wait to get knocked up.

I don't know what I want to do. on one hand, I really want Sean to experience a cruise and I want our last trip to be tropical and relaxing (and, I want to start trying for kiddos early next year). but on the other hand, I don't see us being able to travel to Europe any other time than now (until we're old and grey), and it's always somewhere we've both always wanted to visit. we'd probably make a list of things/countries we want to visit, but I still feel like we'd be rushing around and not getting a chance to really relax. AND I'd have to wait to get pregnant.

what would you do? also keep in mind that a trip to Europe is probably about 5 times the cost of going on a cruise.

and lastly, because he's cute, here's a Bear Cub for you.

Happy Thursday!

I swear I'm alive, but barely. I haven't been sleeping much these days, thanks to a little addiction I've picked up otherwise known as vampire entertainment. yep, I'm one of those, and I'm not ashamed. I can't say that I wish I were a vamp, cause I love the sunlight, but I would sure as hell sleep with one if I weren't married! haha! I read the Twilight series in a matter of 3 weeks last year, and it looks as if I'll be increasing my reading speed and time with the Sookie Stackhouse series.

The husband watches True Blood religiously, and has been since the first season aired. I'd catch bits and pieces of the show while walking through the living room or doing laundry in the bedroom, and every.single.time. I would see it on the TV, it was some raunchy sex scene. I was automatically turned off from the nakedness. now, don't get me wrong, I love nakedness, but if all I'm seeing is tits, I'm not usually interested. it didn't seem to have much of a plot from what I witnessed, and therefore, I vowed to not become a True Blood fan, and have boycotted it ever since.

until now.

I had heard about the Sookie Stackhouse books (the ones from which the show is based) a while back... I guess it was around the time the show aired. but because I hadn't been interested in watching the show, I was pretty sure I wouldn't be a lover of the books either. holy moley, was I wrong. I ordered Dead Until Dark on Amazon on a whim (along with about 6 other books not vampire related), and figured I'd give it a read and if I liked it, I'd order the rest.

let's just say I was finished the book in about 4 days and patiently awaiting the arrival of my next Amazon order, which obviously, could not come soon enough. I was hooked from the first chapter, and a little over a week later, I'm on the third book.

I watched Season 1 of the television series (and am on the third episode of Season 2), and while it's much different than the book, it's wonderful. I was relieved that it was a series revolving around adults, and not teenagers, a la Twilight. the story line is pretty accurate as far as the book is concerned, but there are some pretty big character differences. that's alright with me, cause let's face it, Bill is pretty nice to look at. and now that I know Bill's personality, I don't mind the sex scenes... in fact, I look forward to it cause it makes me all tingly in the nethers.

and you know what makes it even better? that Sookie & Bill are engaged in real life. well, um, Anna & Stephen are getting married in real life. yes, I know I'm late on this news, but it makes me even giddier when I watch the show knowing that they really do love each other, so back off.

it's SO nice to have a book series that I'm actually really interested in reading, and not just turning the pages for the sake of finishing the book. it's been a while since I've picked up a real page turner, and it's a great thing. poor Sean has been ignored for the past week, but I think he understands, since he loves the TV show as much as I love the books. ;)

so anyway, that's where I've been... with my nose in a book!
and for good measure, here are some pictures from the show.

my purpose in life is to answer my one life long question: how do blind people know when they're done wiping?

I'm sure there are ways to do it beyond sight (obviously... there HAS to be), but I'm honestly curious to know what these skills are. do they own a sniffing dog? do they smell the toilet paper themselves? this is in no way, shape, or form meant to be offensive to those with no eye sight whatsoever. it's just something that has plagued my mind for YEARS, so I thought, who better to ask than my lovely readers?

and don't act like you don't look at the poopy toilet paper when you're done wiping... you gotta make sure your ass is clean, yo! well... maybe not for you fancy pants out there with bidet toilets.

I'm really really disappointed at all the recently canceled TV programs. let's be honest here... I'm a TV junkie, and I've mentioned this fact many times on this blog. and it just so happens, that I watched a lot of the shows that were canceled this year already, and some from last year. proceed below for the list:

The Cleaner

Accidentally On Purpose

Cold Case

Flash Forward

Law & Order

Mercy

Raising The Bar

Life

My Own Worst Enemy

RIP to some of my favorite shows. I love you all for one way or another. you've treated me well over the season(s) and you will be truly missed.

I often think about the origin of letters and words and why they sound the way they do. for example, who decided what the letter A would look and sound like? why doesn't it look like an A, but sound like an S? who looked at a chair one day and proclaimed "this will be called a chair!"? it's insane how much I try to figure this stuff out, and it's crazy if you really think about it long enough... what if all the letters in the alphabet sounded like something else? that shit boggles my mind.

insomnia sucks. between being busy with work, and being high on Ambien by the time I get a chance to blog about anything, I haven't had a chance to get to Wedding Wednesday yet today... whomp whomp. I'm go to attempt to half ass for sleep's sake, but if it's horrible, I'll put it on my list of things to do for tomorrow.

oh yeah - GO FLYERS!

raccoons, bats, and gators - oh my!

I think I may have a new favorite cheesy TV show.

Billy the Exterminator.

I know, I know, it's ridiculous, but I swear to baby jesus, it is HILARIOUS. I love the extreme redneck of the family... especially Billy's stylish mullet. it's spiky and highlighted... not your run of the mill redneck head wear.

cute wittle fox face! love it!

another reason I'm drawn to the show is because not only does it involve animals that others may consider pests (I obviously think they're adorbs), but he doesn't just go in and kill everything. if he's removing critters (I really think this word may enter itself into my regular vocabulary) such as opossums, raccoons, or bats, he takes them out of the infested area and relocates them somewhere else.

the show follows the family owned pest removal company that is based in Louisiana. AND. ZOMG, there's alligators. I've mentioned before that alligators make the top 3 list of my favorite animals, so it's fucking awesome to see this redneck take a big man killing machine and relocate it to a safer and less populated environment.

I've only seen a couple of last season's episodes, and I'm hooked. it's so deliciously trashy that I simply cannot turn away. oh A&E, you buncha geniuses.

yeah. that's pretty much all I have to write about tonight. I'll have a weekend update complete with pictures from the Caps game at some point tomorrow.

PS - was anyone else SUPER RELIEVED when Jeff & Jordan arrived last at the pit stop on Amazing Race to find out that it was a non-elimination leg of the race? I thought I was going to shit myself at the thought of them being sent home.

Dear Olympics,

Thank you for being over. don't get me wrong, I'm patriotic and shit, but I'm so ready for NHL hockey to be back! I can't wait to watch the Capitals play from section 114 this Saturday. I finally get to rock my Ovechkin jersey I got for Christmas. wooo!

Dear Face,

I would really appreciate it if you would stop breaking the fuck out all the time. You never bothered me in my teen years, and you didn't start acting all wonky until the past two years or so. I'm working on finding a skincare regiment that works for you, but it doesn't really help when I can't tell what is and isn't working due to having mini skin breakouts ALL the time. I would especially appreciate it if you could clear up before my birthday celebration on the 20th... where there is guaranteed to be cameras galore.

Always,

Dear Creator(s) Of Spartacus Blood & Sand,

THANK YOU for the deliciousness that is Andy Whitfield, and for the mass amount of penis shots during the show. I'm sick of seeing boobs on TV... and even though Mr. MandeeFoFandee hates it, I enjoy seeing a good looking man with his junk hangin' out every once in a while. andalso, if you could somehow convince Andy Whitfield to come to Maryland and visit me, that would be amazing. oh, and the premise of the show is pretty sweet too. ;)

Dear Pottery Barn,

It would seriously make my entire year if you could please drop the price of the Samantha Bench... for my entryway. I would gladly pay full price for the item, if it weren't for the fact that the bench alone is $400... and then I have to buy the cushion for $75, and the baskets for $34 a piece. yes, I realize I could make my own cushion and buy the baskets elsewhere, but damnit, I love a total package. I just want to finish my entryway. is that too much to ask?

Sincerely,
Refuses to Pay Full Price for ANYTHING

Dear Lily,

You are one hairy bitch. I'm so sick of vacuuming "your spot" on the couch every single weekend. You should really start sleeping somewhere else. This is a time when I'm SO glad we decided to not let you and your brother and sisters in the bedroom any longer. I can only imagine how furry our bed would be. Next time I try to brush you, stay still. Then I won't have to yell at you while vacuuming every Saturday.

Love,
Yo Mama

Happy Monday, bitches!

let's talk reality.

as I've mentioned before, I am a complete reality TV junkie. seriously, I can't get enough. they could create a show that highlighted someone's normal office job and normal boring life... and I would fucking watch it. I guess it all stems from my constant need to be nosy... I love reading/watching about other peoples' lives and to think about what I would do in a certain situation or with a different challenge.

anywhozits, I watch a LOT of reality TV - you name it, and I guarantee that I've probably watched at least one season, if not on a regular basis. my top 3 shows that are airing right now are the highlight of my week. I figured I'd share my opinion on the current going-ons of those shows. since I know you care about my brutally honest and sometimes offensive opinions.

#1. Project Runway. now I'll be the first to admit that I am extremely FAR from being a fashionista. in fact, the most fashionable piece of clothing I own is probably my wedding dress and a killer pair of green heels that I've NEVER even worn. but oh do I love Tim Gunn and his "make it work" ism. this season is pretty crazy, and I have to say, I'm not surprised that Heidi is pregnant again. I feel like I haven't watched a season of PR without a pregnant Ms. Klum hosting.

as I stated a few posts ago, Amy and Seth Aaron are my current faves. Seth Aaron's personal style really calls to me. I love all the black, and the zippers, and the funky patterns. it's totally me, and I would happily wear ANY of the designs he's created on the show, especially his latest. the challenge was to create a fashionable outfit for a child, and then of course Tim Gunn sprung on them a little twist: to create a coordinating adult outfit. I love the jacket, and the pants with the metal detailing. and if I'm being completely honest, I kinda sorta want to own the kid's hoodie too.

Amy is a little more subtle, but still isn't afraid to put her shit out there and take risks... like last week's nightmare outfit she designed. oh lord. now I don't mind the kid's outfit... in fact I would probably wear a sweater like that. but what was she thinking with those pants? I wish she would have made them into a skirt... at least then the movement of the fabric wouldn't be all over the place. don't get me wrong, I've loved her past ensembles, but this one... was just... whack.

here's a look at her gown from episode 4 (which she won). I need to OWN this dress.

as far as personality goes, I am infatuated with Anthony's laugh. he is such a trip, and reminds me so much of an old friend. his diva attitude makes me laugh out loud during every episode, and I love his back story - just a regular gay man growing up in the south with a passion for fashion. I also adore his winning design from week 5, that will be worn by the one and only Heidi Klum on the cover of an upcoming Marie Claire.

all images are courtesy of Lifetime.

the only person from PR Season 7 that I really can't stand is Mila. she just annoys me. she complains that she doesn't fit in, but maybe it's because she's old and acts like she's got a stick up her ass. she just seems so stuck up to me, and her designs are the same old geometric patterns. ugh, I hope she goes home soon.

#2. Shear Genius.
even though it's a semi-new show, I've been hooked since Season 1. and for the record, I fucking hate Tabitha. I think she looks like a dog and she's bitchy.

this season, Amy and Jon are my favorite so far. I like Amy, cause she's young and her hair looks awesome. I find it hard to trust a hair dresser who has shitty looking hair... kinda like I don't trust skinny chefs. she hasn't been doing too well on the show lately, but I'm confident she can turn it around. here she is rockin' it during episode 4's short cut challenge:

Jon is just hilarious - he reminds me a LOT of a guy I dated a few years ago, who is now a really good friend of mine. well he reminds me of him... minus the homosexual factor. he's really goofy and expressive, which I love. I loved his finished look for the elimination challenge on episode 2 - the challenge was to create a hair style based on a dish - his dish was scallops, and he conveyed his vision perfectly through the model's hair.

I'm SO glad Adee is gone - he was a really cocky hairdresser from London, who couldn't even mix color because back at home he has an assistant to do that for him. what an ass. HATE HIM. I'm also not a big fan of Brig - she's just weeeeeird and a little too confident for someone who hasn't done very well in the competition. and her hair is HIDEOUS.

all images from Bravo.

#3. Bad Girls Club. I cannot even express my love for the trashiness that is this show. 7 slutty, nasty, fighting, trashy, classless females all living in a house together in LA? don't miiiind if I do! the drama that ensues is incredibly hilarious, and it's hard to believe that girls like these actually exist in our society (and sometimes it's kinda sad). I don't really have a favorite this season, cause they all get on my nerves in one way or another, but let's face it - BGC is like a train wreck. you just... can't... look... away.

I do find it necessary to mention that I'm fully convinced that Natalie is an actress... because there is nowayinhell someone actually acts like she does... running around telling people she "runs LA" (just because she dated/is dating Chris Brown) and that she's rich as a celebrity, and thinks every man wants her. not with that Jay Leno chin, hooker.

images courtesy of Oxygen.

oh, oh, oh... I just found her bio on Oxygen's website. get a load of this shit:
"A spunky self-proclaimed socialite, Natalie enjoys cruising in her sugar daddies’ expensive cars and painting the town red with her cool celebrity friends. With a degree in Sociology, Natalie operates her own fashion boutique in Northern California. This flamboyant rebel proclaims to 'run LA.'"
doesn't she just SOUND like a giant douchebag? yeah, that's what I thought.

so. that's my recap on my current 3 fave reality TV shows. trust me, there are many more, but those are the only ones I'm really passionate about right now. I'm also watching the newest season of The Biggest Loser, but since that hasn't been on since the Olympics started airing, I kinda forgot what was going on, haha. and The Amazing Race is awesome as well (team Jeff & Jordan, btw)... but it just started so it's kind of hard to judge who I hate. for now.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! I'm having a much needed girls night tomorrow night, and I can't wait to see some of my favorite ladies!

PS - 25 days til my birthday! ;)
