A Positive Baseball Weekend

Saturday I went to the Ports game with M. We ate at Arby's before the game and I got some laundry done, as our washer at the house is on the fritz. The good guys came back with a rally in the 8th inning and won the game against Bakersfield, who are a Reds farm team. I don't have my scorebook handy, but one of the Blaze players hit one almost out of the entire park and into the channel behind the ballpark. Another Blaze player hit a pop up and I said "oh, that's an out." What I should have said was, "that'll carry out of the park" because that's exactly what it did. I'm not wrong about stuff like this too often, but even I was surprised when the ball was a home run.

S and I went to the A's game on Monday afternoon. I can't recall the last time the A's played a non holiday Monday day game. So S and I drug our asses out of bed (no, not the same bed you jackasses) and made a stop at Jasmine to eat steam table Chinese. One of the bright spots about moving to the bay side of the hills is that Jasmine and the 5th Wheel are only a 15 or 20 minute drive, not an hour plus.
Then it was off to the ballgame. We parked in the BART lot and parked for free. I'll be goddamned if I'm going to pay $17 to park when the bleacher tickets are only $13 each. The A's didn't announce the attendance, but there weren't too many people at the game. I'd be surprised if the draw was announced at over 10k.
It has been a while since I've owned a home A's hat. At the park they charged me $41.74 for a New Era 5950 size 8 hat. I thought my Rivercats hat was expensive when I bought one last year, but I almost fell over dead when two $20's didn't cover the A's hat. Needless to say I don't think I'll be buying anything else at the A's Team Store anytime soon. Unless I win the lottery.
The good guys tied up the Rangers in the 8th and the game went to extra innings. I didn't say this out loud (I should have) but I was thinking "OK Matsui you bum, its time to hit one out of the park and win the game." On the first pitch, the FSM blessed Matsui's batting eye and swing as Godzilla did what I thought he should do and hit the ball out of the park to win the game with one swing.
One thing I forgot to do was bring sunscreen. Its been a while since I've been to an A's game in the bleachers and I blew off the fact that the sun beats down on the bleachers. Of course this isn't the first time I've gotten sunburned in the bleachers at the A's game. I forgot that I now have possession of my ballpark bag and it should have sunscreen in it. My arms, face and knees are lobster red.

So, it was a productive weekend.
