At what point did you know that you wanted to be a writer? Was it something that you always wanted to do or was your passion for writing born from a significant event in your life?
I first decided I wanted to be a writer when I was 16. I started writing a book, but of course I never finished it. It wasn't until after my third child came along that I really took up writing again.
Rylee doesn’t have high hopes for the Victoria Day weekend camping trip, seeing as she’s been roped into taking her brother and his juvenile friends. But her mind is changed when she spots a gorgeous man on a hiking trail. She’d like to be zipped in a sleeping bag with him, no doubt about it.Atticus came to Elora Gorge to get away from his father and his demands that his son find a mate. Like yesterday. Atticus needs time away from being groomed to be the pack leader and the endless stream of “suitable” mates thrown his way in hopes of stirring his mating urge. No luck yet. But then he spots a shy mortal who draws him like no other.
The tent heats up quickly, but before Atticus can tell Rylee what he is, he discovers a member of his pack has followed him with the intention of claiming him for her own. Not only does he have to convince Rylee she’s his mate, he must also prove she can trust him.
You have an impressive list of books to your name. What book did you find the most fun to write and why?
I actually don't have one book that I had fun writing. It's more like a series of books. I've really enjoyed writing my werewolf and vampire series. Each one has a little bit of humor mixed in with a lot of romance
Do you consider yourself a plotter or do you allow your stories to flow effortlessly from the depths of your mind?
I wouldn't exactly call myself a plotter. I'm more of a pantser at heart. When I first start a book, I just do a bare minimum of an outline, just enough to get me started.
You have written so many amazing books, but do you ever suffer from writers block?
So far I've been lucky and have never suffered from writers block. I just have too many stories floating around in my head needing to be written.
Arwen is an individual figure skating coach who never thought she’d ever get to meet the lead singer of the band Soar. She’d been crushing on Gannon ever since Soar’s first CD came out. While attending the band’s concert in her hometown, Gannon’s and her gaze meet during a love song he sings, making Arwen think he’s only singing for her. Unexpectantly, the next day, an even more unbelievable situation occurs. Gannon appears at the skate club and asks her out on a date. When his gaze met the woman’s in the crowd, Gannon became immediately taken with her. Something about her drew him like no other human woman had before. As an Alte, a winged being humans had mistaken for angels through chance encounters, he and his band mates are the last of their kind after an illness swept through their people. Surviving, they find themselves able to manipulate the elements, allowing them to hide what they truly are from the humans around them. Their bright silver eyes become natural, and even their wings are camouflaged, leaving a tattoo-like mark on their backs. Immortal as well, the remaining five have together lived for over a thousand years.
As Gannon grows closer to Arwen, he finds himself fighting to keep his true self hidden. Even more frightening, when they make love, he starts to absorb her life energy causing him to put some distance between them. But when another of their kind arrives on the scene, revealing what caused the demise of their people, Gannon is faced with letting Arwen die or risking the rest of humanity to save her.
What is the best part of being a writer?
The best part is being able to do something I love. Plus being able to set my own time to work.
What is the hardest part of being a writer?
The hardest part would be making sure I get all my writing time in, and making sure my family doesn't feel too neglected.
This is a question I have asked everyone I have interviewed because I love hearing the answer. How did it feel to see the front cover of your first book for the very first time?
Seeing that first cover was a surreal moment. At one time I never thought I'd ever see one of my books published. I still get a thrill with each new cover I get.
Do you find that your passion for writing has grown and evolved since the release of your first book?
Yes, I would have to say it has. My writing flows faster now that I'm not second guessing myself.
What words of advice would you give up and coming authors?
The best advice I can give is keep writing, and to never give up on your dream.
What can we expect from your next book?
I just recently signed the contract for the fourth book in my Wolves of East Anglia series. I'm also planning on writing another werewolf novella for Ellora's Cave's Oh, Canada! themed series.
